Stanley Richard McLean

With profound sadness, we share the news of the peaceful passing of Richard (Dick) McLean at the Northside Community Guest Home on Saturday, December 30th, 2023.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 26th, 1941, he was the son of the late Jonny and Violet McLean and his stepmother Henrietta McLean. Richard had the love of his faithful wife, Barbara, baby brother Brian, and Uncle Edward ( Dock ) McLean. Dick had two sisters, Anne Finlayson (Late) and Violet Carroll. Two children: daughter Noelle (Keith) Fry and son Brain McLean. Two special grandchildren, Zachary and Tiffany Fry.
A lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines. He loved his music and formed a band, “Dick & the Boys.” Always one to help, Richard would volunteer his time at the Hospitals, Old Age Homes, Pensioners Club, and the Bras d’Or Legion. In his free time, “Dick” loved dancing, playing darts, and bowling with his close friends.
Cremation has taken place; there will be no visitation. A celebration of his life and burial service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Shore Road, Sydney Mines. On Monday, June 10th, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with Decon David Lewis Officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Diabetes Society, Alzheimer’s, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
