It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Robert (Bob) William Bobbitt at the Northside Guest Home after a short illness. Dad passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2023, Surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Leonard and Hattie (Piercey) Bobbitt.
Bob was a lifelong member of the Breton Branch 8 Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney Mines. He was also an active member of the armed forces from a young age. In his younger years, he enjoyed the outdoors. You could always find him with a fishing rod or out searching for the perfect buck. Bob’s love for Diet Pepsi, Pizza, and Subs is almost as strong as the love he had for his family (Diet Pepsi may have won this one).
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Gwendolyn (Tobin) Bobbitt, along with his parents, his daughter Lois, sisters Gracie and Sylvia, and brother Leonard.
Bob is survived by his sons Brian (Wendy), Alan, Gordie (Tona), and daughter Irene (Joe). He is also survived by his siblings Verna, Leona (Jobe), and Leonard (Sandy), as well as his nine grandchildren Billy, Jeff, Crystal, Holly, Brian, Fred, Nigel, Jarod, and Thomas, and his great-grandchildren Madison, Emily, Emma, Ethan, M.C., Bentley, Max, Gwen, and Jaxton.
Cremation has taken place, A visitation will be held Monday, June 5th, 1:00 – 3:00 pm at JM Jobes Funeral Home, with a service to follow.
Following the service, a reception will be held in Bob’s honor at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8.
We want to thank the wonderful staff at the Northside Community Guest Home who went above and beyond to take care of our father.
One final goodbye Papa would tell ya, “Good day me son”
