Robert Herridge

With profound heartbreak, we, the family of Robert Herridge, sadly announce his sudden passing on April 7, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born on January 28, 1965, in North Sydney, Robert was the beloved son of the late Barbara (Whitty) and Murdock Herridge.
In his younger years, Robert could often be found behind the parts counter at Canadian Tire in North Sydney, always ready with a helping hand and a friendly smile. Most recently, he worked with the Pipefitters Union Local 682, traveling throughout Western Canada and Ontario. He was proud of his trade and the connections he made along the way.
Robert dedicated ten years of service to the North Sydney Fire Department, giving back to the community he held dear. He was an avid hockey player who cherished his time on the ice and was a lifelong and loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Known as a skilled handyman, Robert found joy in his garage, where he loved to tinker and repair boat motors during his free time.
Having recently received a life-changing kidney donation, Robert was filled with renewed hope and excitement to begin a new chapter. Little did we know that life had other plans for him.
Robert is survived by his devoted partner, Karen MacIntyre, who he loved deeply. He also leaves behind his brothers David, whom he fondly referred to as “his recent hero,” and his wife Lisa of Little Pond; Albert and his wife Priscilla of MacAdam’s Lake; and Roger and his wife Shannon of Sydney Mines. His sisters, Bonnie and her partner Jackie of North Sydney, and Nancy and her husband DJ Laffin of Alder Point, also mourn his passing.
He will be missed dearly by his cherished fur baby Missy, his sister-in-law Josephine Herridge, and his godson Nicolas Herridge. Robert had a special bond with Karen’s daughter, Alicia Daley, her husband Shaun, and their children Ethan and Autumn, who brought light and laughter into his life. His absence will be deeply felt by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 28 years, Debbie (Cann), in 2021. He also joins his father Murdock (2021), his mother Barbara (2022), his brother Allan (2014), and his grandparents Thomas and Rachael Whitty, and George and Rebecca Herridge.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, with a service to follow.The family invites everyone to attend a luncheon at the Sydney Mines Pensioners club 1 Fraser Ave Sydney Mines A private burial will be held at a later date.
