Robert Lavery Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we, the Lavery Family, announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Robert Charles Lavery, age 71, on Monday, February 3, 2025, at his residence.

Born in Point Aconi, February 18, 1953, he was the son of the late James Lavery and Mary (Beaton) Lavery.
Charlie was proud to be part of a large close family, guided by loving parents of nine children.
Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his brother’s Jimmy and baby Pius, at birth. He was also predeceased by his brother in-law Gerald, and sister’s in-law Sharon and Anne. He is survived by his sister Geraldine, and brothers Joe, Brian, Peter (Ann), David (Christine), Freddy, and Patty (Sue).
Charlie is survived by his four children, Kelly, Charlie (Sam), Nick (Sherri), Daniel (Jenna) and their mother Mary. He is survived by his grandchildren Olivia, Ainsley, Owen, Leah, Heidi, Logan and Layla.
Charlie grew up with music at home, and along with his natural gift for drumming, he later went on to be part of several popular bands. They included Ramblin’ Band, and Road, who recorded original songs that were hits on Radio.
Charlie’s other passion was playing sports, mainly hockey and baseball, and he excelled at both.
Charlie was a skilled carpenter and excellent painter, who took great pride in his work. Charlie was loved by many and liked by all who knew him. Charlie could always be found striking up a conversation with anyone and gained many friends along the way, but no one was as close a friend to him as his best friend Tom LeBlanc.
A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 14th at St. Joseph’s Parish Church, Little Bras D’or beginning at 10:30 am. A reception will follow in Bras D’or Hall.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local foodbank.
