It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Kenneth Simm, 70, on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, at the Northside General Hospital, Palliative Care.
Born in Sydney Mines on February 18th, 1954, he was the son of the late Ernest and Louise (MacLeod) Simm.
Robert was employed with Canada Post in his last year of high school until retirement 40 years later in 2013 and was an active member of CUPW. He made many friends over the years and was well-loved and respected.
He had a love for rebuilding antique vehicles and was most often found in his garage. When not in the garage, he would keep busy with projects around.
the house and yard and could always find something that needed fixing or improving. He also enjoyed camping trips and spending time in New Campbellton.
Survived by his wife of 23 years, Bernadette (Winstanley) Simm, his best k9 pal, Jessie, step-daughters Lisa Winstanley (Rodney Lewis), Point Edward, Laura (Kori) Carroll, Rocky Mountain House, AB;
grandchildren Abigail and Austin Lewis, Taylor, and Riley Carroll; sisters Gail Simm, London Ont., Judith MacNeil, Fort St. John, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his former wife, Holly (MacDougall) Simm, and Brother-in-law, Tom MacNeil.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, from 1-3:00 pm in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines.
Donations may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Reginal Hospital.
