YORKE, RODERICK (Roddie) HOWARD - Bras d’Or

August 17, 1943 – April 5, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Roddie Yorke announces the sudden passing of a great husband, amazing father and grandfather. Roddie passed peacefully on April 5, 2024 at home with his family at his side.

Roddie worked as a bus driver with Cape Breton Transit, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping and tinkering in his garage with his brother-in-law Eldridge. Roddie provided plowing services to many neighbours in Bras d’Or and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be missed by his many friends and extended family members.

Roddie was born in North Sydney, Cape Breton and is survived by his wife Wanda (King), sons Paul (Janice), and Rodney (Lorraine), daughter Verna (Erin), grandchildren, Nathan (Kaylene), Luke (Courtney), Chloe, Claire, Megan and Christina; great-grandchildren, Jack, Marlecka, Emberely and Faylynn. He is also survived by his sister Betty, North Sydney.

Roddie is pre-deceased by his parents, John A and Mary (Robertson) Yorke, sisters, Jean, Edna, Rhoda, Geraldine and Barbara. He is also pre-decease by his grand daughter, Kimber and great-grandson, Chase.

Cremation has taken place. There is no funeral service planned as per the family’s request. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
