We, the family of Ronald Robert MacDonald, St. Margarets Village, regret to inform you with great sorrow of his passing. Robert passed away surrounded by family on February 5th, 2025, at the Buchanan Memorial Hospital in Neils Harbour.
Ronald was born on August 4th, 1948, to the late Robert C. MacDonald and the Late Mary Allice (Capstick) MacDonald.
A lifelong resident of St. Margarets Village, Robert lived his 76 years in the family home where he was born. A fisherman from the age of 17, he was a proud member of the Victoria Coop Fishery, working at the fish plant for many years. In the winter months, Robert was contracted and worked doing snow removal in the local area.
Ronald is survived by sisters Joyce and Anna (Stanley) and brothers Tommy (Beatrice) and Paul (Thelma). Nieces: Shirley, Tellie, Lizzie, Sam, Charyl, Melissa, Brandy, Charlene,Colleen. Nephews: Paulie, Joe, Robert, Clarence, Ryan, and David Lee. Robert was also survived by many grandnieces and grand nephews as well as all of St. Margarets Village. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by sisters Lois, Carol, and Pauline, and a brother, Freddie and nephews Conard and Calvin.
A very special thank you to all the staff, nurses, and doctors at Buchanan Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care and kindness given to Ronald and all his Family. A special thanks to his niece Shirley MacKinnon, his caregiver for the last 5 years, and to his niece Samantha MacKinnon for the constant care and overnight stays while Ronald was in the hospital. Thank you, Thank you.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Parrish Church at 1 pm; services have been entrusted to JM Jobes Funeral Home, with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Following the Mass, a lunch will be held in the Parish Centre; all who knew Ronald are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Ronald's name.
