It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Nixon Robertson on July 22, 2024, with his family at his side. Ronnie was a father, step-father, brother, uncle, grand-father, partner, and dear friend.
Born on July 15, 1956, Ronnie was the son of the late Evelyn (Taylor) Young and the late Albert Robertson. He, along with his siblings, Alice, Dave, and Tom, were raised on the farm in Georges River by their mother Evelyn and step- father John B. Young (Johnny B.).
Ronnie is survived by his daughter Sarah Beth Robertson (Freddie Ford) and son Landon Ford, loving companion Nancy Theriault, brother Tom Robertson, step-children: Shawn Hooper (Bonnie), Patricia (David) Murray, Ruth (Danny) Walsh, Linda Moore (Dan), and their children and grandchildren.
Ronnie lived most of his life at sea working for Marine Atlantic as a marine engineer. After he retired, he loved to share stories about his time at sea and some of the antics he and his buddies got up to. Although he was a man of few words, he loved to catch up on the local news, and have his coffee with his friends across from Tim’s in Dooley’s parking lot. He was known for his love of cars and trucks which always became a topic of conversation. Ronnie had a big heart and always made sure there were treats at the house for the kids (big and small) and looked forward to his annual feast of lobster, which he got to enjoy at his most recent birthday. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his parents, Ronnie was pre-deceased by his sister Alice Delaney, brother David Robertson, step-father John B. Young, and his long-term partner and friend Betty Hooper.
There will be a grave side service at Lakeside Cemetery on Monday July 29, 2024 at 4:00 PM to celebrate his life.
