Rosalie Dolhanty Obituary

Rosalie Elizabeth Dolhanty

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Rosalie Elizabeth Dolhanty (nee Gouthro), at the Sydney Regional Hospital on February 12, 2024.

Ma was born on July 26th, 1939, in North Sydney and was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (nee White). She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Reg Dolhanty.

She was a member of St Stephen’s Parish Florence and the Holy Family Church Sydney Mines. Ma was a devout practicing Catholic with a deep faith, which she instilled in her children. She worked at the Saint Elizabeth Hospital, North Sydney, for many years and was adored by many patients and coworkers. For many years, our mom was a faithful blood donor, and both of our parents enjoyed swimming, whether at the community pool or Groves Point. Their door was always open, and they both loved our relatives or friends dropping in to sit in our big kitchen.

She is survived by her 6 children, Joanne (Alain), Gina, Pauline (Eric), Stephen (Judy), Joey, and Vernon.
She is also survived by 9 grandchildren who all called her Nanny RoRo: Mike (Ashley), Stevie (Amanda), Markie (Heather), Joey (Crystal), Patrick (Meaghan), Chris, Suzanne, Derrick (Alexis) and Paul (Saundra).
Also, she had 13 great-grandchildren, and she adored them all.

Our mother came from a family of 10 siblings, and she is survived by sisters Yvonne, Delores (Ron), a brother David (Saundra), and brother-in-law Frank Dolhanty (Esther).

She was predeceased by brothers Eddy, Hilton, Luke, and Joey,  sisters Cecelia, Annie, Stella, and Edith, and a great-grandson Elijah at birth.

We, her family, would like to thank the staff of Miners Manor, Sydney Mines, and the staff of the CCU, Sydney Regional Hospital, for their compassionate and tender care of our mother.

Funeral arrangements will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Mental Health Institute or the Cancer Foundation.
The Angels of the Lord came to take you to Heaven to be with Da and we know we will see you again. Ma, you will always be in our hearts.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
