Rose Clare Dawe
Florence
It is with great sadness and love that we the family of Rose Clare Dawe announce her peaceful passing on Friday, January 7,2022, at the age of 75, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital- Palliative Care Unit with her family at her side.
Born in Bras d’Or on Aug 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Maggie (Boudreau) Cashin. Throughout most of her life, Rose was a very active member of the community and left a loving impression on anyone who had the pleasure to met her. Rose spent most of her younger years as a self-taught hairdresser, where no one could argue she was the master of the “beehive” hairdo. Rose spent most of her life helping others and kept busy between selling Aloette Cosmetics, volunteering with the Christopher Leadership Organization, Big Bothers and Sisters, as well as donating her time to help other families who were in need, all in addition to raising her children, grandchildren and doting on her loving husband of 59 years, Hector.
For many years Rose worked at the Salvation Army Youth Resource Center in Sydney, where she absolutely loved her co-workers and adored the children she met during her time as the “Chief” aka cook. Rose always had a great presence and could light up any room with her lively and full of energy personality. Rose was always going out of her way to entertain, cook, and had a natural gift to make anyone laugh.
Left to mourn are her loving husband, Hector, her only daughter Kim (Darrell), and her beloved grandchildren, Kara (Colin), Kent, Colton, and JD, who lovingly called her “Nanny Rose”. Also left to mourn are her younger sisters Anna (Frank) Martin and Mary Cashin, along with her special “little sister Shannon”.
In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by her three beautiful sons, Jackie, Freeman and Joe, her brother Martin Cashin, mother-in-law Ethel Dawe and father-in-law Freeman Dawe.
Special thanks to the Northside Guest Home, where she was provided compassionate care for the past 3 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice. At this time, regretfully, there will be no service due to Covid restrictions. A service will be held at a later date, where all of those who loved Rose can attend, as this kind and caring woman deserves to be celebrated with all who were dear to her. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
