Rose Doreen Donovan
June 6, 1945 –July 2, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Doreen Donovan Sunday, July 2, at Buchanan Memorial Health Care Center. Rose was the daughter of the late Steve and Margaret Robinson of Ingonish Ferry. Rose loved her gardens, her crafting of cross stitch and knitting, many people enjoyed her handmade socks. Many charitable organizations benefited from Rose’s generous donations. She was employed with Canada Post as Post Master from 1976 until 2006. Rose is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Kenneth Donovan. Her step-children Thelma Roper, Ingonish, Hector MacLeod PEI, Joan MacInnes, River Bennett, Kathleen Davies PEI, Judy MacLeod, River Bennett. Brother-in-law, Bill Donovan, North Sydney, Sister-in-law Rosemary LaRusic, Ingonish, Paula Mayich (John) Middle Sackville, Ann Hussey (Keith) Ingonish. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by Walter MacLeod and his children Kenneth, Willard, MacLeod, Verna Banks, Harold, and Gerald MacLeod. Rose enjoyed many lifelong friends, with special mentions: Terry and Donna Burke, Denise and Keith Hawley, and Byron and Marilyn McKay. Following Rose’s wish, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 2 pm, at St. Peter’s Parish Church, Ingonish Beach, with Father Rev. Jonas Uwaezuoke officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Parish Graveyard Fund. Arrangements under the direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rebecca Hoffer, The nurses, and staff of Buchanan Memorial Health Care Center. Dr. Phillip Curry and Dr. Rod McGory who treated Rose with such special care always.
