Ross Jessome
Millcreek
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, Ross Jessome, age 67, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of Susan (Marsh) and the late Francis X Jessome. Ross was employed at Marine Atlantic for more than 40 years, where he met many great friends and shipmates. He lived in Millcreek his entire life and was happiest on the Point spending time with his family. Ross was a constant presence that you could always rely on.
He was an avid fisherman who would never pass up an opportunity to go lobster, trout or ice fishing with his family and friends. He loved being outdoors on his ATV, working on his property and spending time in his garage, where you could drop in for a visit anytime.
Aside from his mother he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maureen (Higham) Jessome, his children, Karen (Stephen) Fraser, Janice (Shane) Downey and Daniel (Laura) Jessome. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Alex, Lauren, Andrew, Cameron, Julia and Leah, sisters: Maureen (Robert) Brown, Brenda (Gerry) Dentinger, and Lynn Jessome, brother, Gary (Basia) Jessome, brother and sister in laws: Lynn (Robert) Jardine, Harry Higham, Tommy (Gail) Higham and Shawn (Tracey) MacMullin, step mother in law Lorraine Nugent and many nieces and nephews. Besides his father, Ross was predeceased by his father and mother in law Harry and Pearl Higham.
A private family service will be held this week. In lieu of flowers donations in Ross’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Care Patient Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
