Sarah King Obituary

Sarah King, 78

Florence

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Sarah passed away suddenly at home with her loving daughter Eva, son Michael and granddaughter Samantha.

Born in Sydney Mines on October 5, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Doris (Laidlaw) Blackie.

Mom was the most beautiful soul. Strong, hard-working, loving, caring and kindest person to all who knew her. Her families’ needs were always her first priority. She was always busy cooking and baking for her family functions, or anyone else who stopped by. She loved her cups of tea, knitting, crocheting, gardening, tole painting, and Bingo. She was a life-time member of the Sydney Mines pensioners Club. Mom was happiest when she spent time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She had a very special bond and place in her heart for her grandson Jacob Reid. Jake was always there to do whatever she needed done, and more while she still lived in her own home. The love and admiration between them both was mutual.

Sarah spent the last six years of her life living with her daughter Eva, who cared, provided for and loved unconditionally after being diagnosed with early dementia. She enjoyed her many weekends spent with her son Mike and daughter-in-law Laura Chaulk.

Sarah is survived by her daughters; Eva (Jacob Reid), and Mary (Claude MacNeil), and sons Michael (Laura Chaulk), and Thomas (Laura Burgess). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jacob (Kara), Samantha (Kyle), Michael, Caroline (Derek Robertson) Raleigh (Jessica), and Connor (Cassidy) and great-grandchildren Noah, Elouise, Brayden, Theo, Sarah, Hannah and Evelyn, one brother Joey Blackie, and many nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn is her dearest cousin and friend, Donna Blackie (Blinkhorn), and dear friends Lillian Bonnar and Raylene Moore.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life Henry King, brothers Ernie, Billy (Chico), Lawrence and Cecil in infancy, sisters Lobeila, Ruth, Verna, and great-grandchild Millie Robertson (heart warrior).
