Sheila Miller Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Sheila Miller (Douglas) announces her peaceful passing on July 8, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born in Big Bras d’Or on August 12, 1934, Sheila was the beloved daughter of Bridget (Briddie) and Oliver Douglas.

Sheila will be fondly remembered for her sharp wit, dry sense of humour, and her quick comebacks that could make anyone smile. She had a deep love for animals, especially her cherished dog Molly, who was always by her side. In her earlier years, she dedicated herself to raising her children, baking homemade bread, and tending to her garden. Sheila also worked as a housekeeper and in various food establishments, always bringing care and diligence to everything she did.

She treasured the quiet moments—starting her mornings with a cup of tea and the newspaper brought her great comfort.

She leaves behind her loving siblings: Mary, Nancy, Claude (Betty), Brian, and Judy (Daniel); her devoted children: Terry (Danny), Debbie (Jim), Maureen (Jim), Kevin (Lucy), Gary, Gregory, and Kathleen (Johnny); along with 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved with her whole heart.

Sheila is predeceased by her parents, Bridget and Oliver; her siblings, Johnny and Olive (Bubbles); her children, Michael (in infancy) and Diane; and her son-in-law, Jim MacLean.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and friends at the Northside Community Guest Home for their care, compassion, and kindness over the past four years.

In keeping with Sheila’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.
