With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Stewart Wayne Moore, who left us peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Sydney Mines, Stewart was known for his big heart, quick smile, and the kind of laughter that could ease even the hardest day. He loved fishing—perhaps more than anything—and found peace on the water, in the quiet moments with the rod in his hand and the world drifting by. Stewart had a warm, easy way about him. If you needed help, an ear to listen, or simply someone to make you laugh, he was already on his way. His compassion was genuine, his love was constant, and his presence made life lighter for those blessed to know him.
Stewart is survived by his son, Stewart Jr.; his brothers, Freddy (Michelle) and Hugh (Frances); and his cherished nieces, Brandy, Kim (Michael), Ceilidh, Casey, Brianna and nephew Brayden , Ryan as well as great niece Fia—all of whom meant the world to him. He carried each of them in his heart with pride and tenderness.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joan and Fred, and his brother, Roger, whom he lovingly remembered throughout his life.
In keeping with Stewart’s gentle nature and the family’s wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.
If you knew Stewart, you’ll remember him with a smile—because that’s how he lived his life, always making sure others felt good, cared for, and seen. He will be forever missed, always loved, and remembered with warmth.
