Theresa Maureen White

It is with deep and heartfelt regret that we announce the death of Theresa M. White, 62, on June 30, 2024, at Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends.  

Born in North Sydney on September 21, 1961, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Ann T. (MacNeil) Higgins of Guy Street, Sydney Mines. She attended Notre Dame Elementary, St. John’s Junior High, and Memorial High schools.

Theresa was a piper with the Sprigs of Heather Pipe Band and was active in Highland Dancing as a dancer and as a teacher for many of her younger years. She worked in dental care with Dr. Graham Opie in North Sydney for 22 years, with Dr. Joseph Claener in Sydney for 11 years, and most recently with Dr. Caitlin Fraser for 10 years until her illness in January 2024.

Theresa is survived by her husband of 36 years, Clifford, her son Jason (Molly), daughter Kristi, and grandsons Jax Roderick White and Logan Michael White. She is also survived by her Mother-in-Law Yvonne White, her sisters Anne, Nancy, Mary, Catherine, and Judy, her Sister-in-law Marie (Doug), Brother-in-Law David White (Cathy), and Sisters-in-Law Debby MacNeil (Danny), Brenda Fudge (Gerald), Darlene Snow (Robert/Snowy), Susan Hass (Gary), Nicole White (Leon), as well as 17 nieces and nephews and 17 grandnieces and grandnephews. 

Theresa was predeceased by her parents, William R. and Ann T. Higgins, by her brother Bill (William R.) Higgins Jr., her Father-in-Law Reginald (Reg) White, and her Brother-in-Law Brian Nathanson.

Theresa was especially and deeply grateful to her Sister-in-Law Darlene Snow and to her Daughter-in-Law Molly (Gillis) White for the friendship, love, and care they each bestowed throughout her illness.  

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday July 2nd, 2024, at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday 10:30 July 3rd, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church in Bras d’Or. There will be a reception at the Bras d’Or Hall immediately following the funeral mass.
