William "Bill" Clarke, 91, passed away peacefully at the Cove Guest Home on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Gladys (Walsh) and Cyril Clarke.
Bill enjoyed a long career with Marine Atlantic before spending much of his time at his cabin in Margaree, where he found joy in fishing, hunting, and exploring the back roads. His time at the cabin was made special by the presence of his family, friends, and companion, Florence Huntington.
He is survived by his children, Joey, Dorthy, Vera (Gerard), and Shirley; his siblings, Bossie Walsh, Verna (John) Angst, Hilda Walsh, Lorraine MacMullin, Dianne (Earl) MacKenzie, Ron (Lorraine) Clarke, Steve (Phyllis) Clarke; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter Sheila Clarke, brothers Gerald, Cyril and John Adrian, and sister Marie French.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kohlsmith, Dr. Archibald, and the dedicated staff at The Cove Guest Home (Creative Care) for their care and support.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Parish in North Sydney, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
