It is with deep sadness that we, the family of William (Willie) Terrance Penny, 75, of Florence, announce his peaceful passing at the Northside General Hospital on Monday, May 30, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Glace Bay on February 27, 1947, and raised in Sydney Mines, Willie was a family man who loved and dedicated most of his life to raising his 4 daughters. He always loved spending time with his children, grandkids, and neighborhood children who called him “Poppy Da”. In his younger years Willie worked in the Coal Mines, the Lake Boats and for Leisure Services before he had to retire for medical reasons. He loved to spend his time fixing lawnmowers, bicycles for the neighborhood children and walking his four-legged friend, Lou. He also enjoyed fishing with his friends, country music, playing a tune on his guitar, telling a story along with a joke or two, and watching the news.
