With broken hearts we announce the passing of our most amazing father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, William Vincent Nugent, 86, on Saturday, August 6th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Dad was born in Florence on Sept 4th, 1935 to the late Gordon and Margaret (Day) Nugent. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Parish, Bras d'Or.

He spent many years as a meat cutter for Jabalees & Sons until 1992. He then owned and operated Nugent's Dairy until his retirement in 2001.

He enjoyed his many years volunteering with Bras d'Or Elementary School, Nugent's Dairy Giants Baseball, and St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or. He was a well-respected community member who was the happiest when helping others.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Day) Nugent, and his five children, who he always referred to as his five angels, Darlene (Carl) Swan, Bill (Patsy) Nugent, Ave (Vincent) Tobin, Alvin (Joanie) Nugent and Velda (Al Fraser). He was the best grandfather (Da) to Carl (Bev) Swan, Cory (April) Swan, Kara (Jonathan) Steele, Vanessa Nugent (Craig), Jillian (Gail) Nugent Robson, Sean (Alicia) Tobin, Ashley (Andre) MacDougall, Holly (Brian McGean) Nugent. Adoring great-grandfather to Tye Swan, William and Karli Swan, Payton and Gabriel Steele, Gracie and Jack Nugent Robson, Charlotte Tobin, Camden and Wyatt MacDougall, Kaiden, Leah and Skylar McGean.

He was predeceased by his father and mother in-law Walter and Regis Day, his brother Gordon Nugent, sister Lorraine MacLean, brothers- in-law Alexander Day, Jimmy Lavery, William Bugden, Bill Fahey, Wilson MacLean, Allister MacLean, Bernard Day, and Jack Winstanley, and sisters-in-law Theresa MacLean, Patricia Day, Alice Nugent, Norma Day, and Iris Fisher.

He is also survived by his loving sisters Margaret (Ricky Vickers) Bugden, Theresa Nugent, his sisters and brothers-in-law Mildred Winstanley, Urban Day, Alvin (Mary) Day, Ketha Fahey, Billy (Marcella) Day, Miriam (Vic) Gouthro, and Wanda (Alex) Rideout.

A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at 10:30am in St. Joseph's Church, Bras d'Or. Reception to follow at the Bras d'Or Hall. Masks will be mandatory.

In keeping with Dad's wishes, family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Bras d’Or Elementary School Breakfast Program.  In honor of Dad's legacy "Make kindness a habit today, spread love and kindness in every way" -unknown author

Words cannot express our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Eugene Ignacio and Danielle for taking amazing care of our Dad, going above and beyond to meet our needs. Special thanks to the staff of the CBRH on 4B & 4C. Dad spent his final days at the Northside General Hospital, unit 4 West, where Dad and his family received exceptional care by the amazing staff and for that we are forever thankful. We also extend our great thanks to Da's girls at Jane's Restaurant, Bras d'Or for always being so good to Dad.
