William "Billy" Arnold Nicholson

It is with profound sadness that the family of William Arnold Nicholson “Billy”, age 62, announce his passing on Thursday, April 16, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

 Born in North Sydney on August 27, 1963, Billy was the son of the late Angus Nicholson and Lucille Nicholson. He spent the majority of his life on Boularderie Island before residing in Sydney Mines in his later years.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Lucille Nicholson; sister, Debbie (Joe); son, Christopher; daughter, Jennifer; niece, Alexandra; and beloved grandchildren, Jesse, Thomas, Jordan, and Lily.

 Billy will be remembered for his warm sense of humour and his ability to bring joy to those around him, particularly his grandchildren. He had passion for classic cars, listening to music, and spending time hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.

 A dedicated family man, Billy was known for being a kind soul and a great friend to all who knew him. He was employed in the forestry industry for many years and later with Tourism Nova Scotia, where he contributed to the maintenance and clearing of look-offs along the Cabot Trail.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, including the CCU and ICU units, and the Renal Dialysis Unit in North Sydney, for their compassionate and professional care. Appreciation is also extended to Reverend Conrad Edwards for his prayers and support.

In keeping with Billy’s wishes, cremation has taken. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
