It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Jo Ann, age 62, announce her passing on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at home with family.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 19, 1957, she was the daughter of Mary Vivian (Donovan) and the late Bruno Francis Latwaitis of Sydney Mines.
Jo worked at Citizenship and Immigration in Sydney and was an avid crafter; especially jewelry-making and knitting.
Jo is survived by and will be deeply missed by her daughter Jamie Sauliner (Jon), and son Mike Sauliner. She was a loving sister to Kevin, Stewart (Beth), Stephen (Tracy), and Karen (Mike) MacDonald, as well as many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Alice and William Latwaitis of Sydney Mines, and maternal grandparents Maurice and Emma Donovan of Ingonish Beach.
A special thank you to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Center, for their gracious care and friendship throughout Jo’s treatment. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center. A private family service will be held at a later date. To Jo's family, my deepest condolences on her passing. I worked with her and she was something else! She always had a story to tell. Even though we knew she was sick it was still a shock to hear that she was gone. She handled her illness with dignity and courage. She certainly left an impression with us. Rest in peace Jo. God bless you all.

Wow, I’m in shock. I worked with Jo at citizenship since 2014. She was an amazing lady who spoke her mind which is what I loved about her. She always talked about her family and especially her “girls” (cats). We had a lot of laughs together and I’m going to miss her. RIP Jo 🙏 Condolences to the family ❤️
