We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Wes Burchell, age 83, of Sydney Mines, on Saturday, March 13th, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Sydney Mines on Oct 21, 1937, Wes was the son of the late Harris and Ruth (Gillis) Burchell.
Wes was a devoted employee of Devco before retiring to spend time with his loving wife Sheila. They enjoyed travelling and spending most of their time with friends and family. Wes would spend his days taking care of his vehicles and offering his help to his neighbours.
Wes will be sadly missed by his son Paul (Alice) of Beaver Bank; grandchildren Jennifer (Lee) and Robert (Nicole); great grandchildren Hayden and Gavin; brothers David (Patty), Wayne (Alice) and Lorn (Ethel) as well as his nieces, nephews and all of his extended family.
Besides his parents, Wes was predeceased by his wife Sheila, and sister Gwen.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions an outdoor service will be held in Sydney Mines in the spring.
Wes' family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Northwood Bedford.

So very sorry to hear of Wes’ passing. I have known Wes since I was very young. Harris and Ruth were very good friends of my parents. My mom and brothers would go with Wes and Sheila to Toronto for many summers. I always enjoyed my visits with the Burchell family.

Our deepest sympathies to the Burchell family upon hearing the news of Wes’s passing. Wes was a lovely person, always there to lend a helping hand. We have so many fun memories of spending time with Sheila and Wes and miss them deeply. They always made us laugh and we’re very dear to us. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. To Wes's Family and Friends:
I am saddened to read of Wes's passing. I remember him as a wonderful Christian and such a Godly man. He was not a man to preach but his love for people would shine through in his speech and his caring. I will always remember him and his beautiful wife Sheila. Today they are reunited and sharing a banquet table in heaven while looking into the face of Jesus. RIP dear Wes.
